Give me your honest opinion

I've been growing my hair out to look like this:

...but it's going to take at least another year to reach that length. I'm tempted to go really SHORT again. I had my hair like the one below about 9 years ago (15 pounds thinner) and I loved it. I grew it out simply for our wedding but I'm thinking about going way short again with this cut:

So friends, leave a comment with your honest thoughts. I really do want to hear what you think about these 2 extreme do's. If you don't know how to leave a comment, shoot me an e-mail because I want your opinion. If you know me at all, you'll know ultimately I'm going to go with my instinct (and what Caleb will like most- since he's the main one I'm out to impress) but I'd still like to get other people's thoughts.

To me, the longer do says "youthful, s*xy (can I say that on a family blog?), funky, sassy" The short do says, "sofisticated, smart, fun, sensible, good hair for photography days". My only reservation with the short one is that it will make me look pear-shaped. Okay, your turn... What do they say to you? Which suits me best and would look best on me? What are your thougths? Be honest.

Stick it out and go for the long hair! It will take years to get it to that length if you cut it now! You can have it long for a while and then cut it all off again! The short one is cute, I just think you're much more likely to wish you had let it grow- if you want to cut it, it's never too late... :)

I agree with your sister that you should let it grow! I am sure that is what you expected the Southern Belle in me to say. I think you are certainly pretty enough to pull off the short look, but I LOVE long hair. I think it is sexy and youthful. You can always have short hair, but you will get to an age that the long hair doesn't work anymore so enjoy it now. I have 2 cousins that have such gorgeous hair, they rival the hair of that model, and I have always wished my hair could look like theirs. I am trying to grow mine now, but it keeps getting thinner so I am not sure how long this will last. UGH! Anyway, like you said, in the end, you do what you and Caleb like, but my vote is for the long hair. You can pull it back into a sexy and cute messy bun for photography shoots (and if it doesn't work out, you can always cut it)

Ok,so have always thought that your hair looked hot and sexy when it was short...not that you don't always look hot and sexy anyway...Short screems sassy to me.

love ya, long or short

Hey Jaim,
here is my opinion for what it's worth....
I love long hair. With that said, I've never seen you with short hair but I bet it suits you since you have a beautiful face. I love your hair length now. I say go for what is easiest and makes you happy!! =)
Love,
Deb

do the boobs come with the long hair? if so i would go with that one! ha ha
I think your hair is beautiful - let it grow--- you can always go short when you are old like me. although --i'm sick of it looking the same and growing it out -- something diferent for summer - i like to have it different all the time.ha

Hey Jaime,
I say the short. Just go for it! I loved your hair when it was short it looked so good on you. When it was short I always wanted to cut mine short, but my face is to round and fat! So I say do the short. Whatever you choose it will always look good.

I love the long hair, but I think you would be very sassy and sexy with the short cut! The model is gorgeous (as well as you) in that photo with the long hair. I think you would be great with either. You know me, I don't make decisions easy. What does Caleb like? That is what matters most!! :)

Love,
Karie

Jaime, You look beautiful either way. And looking youthful is NOT a prob for you! When I was in my 20's I used to say "when I get to my 30's I'm going to cut my hair" In my 30's I thought, "In my 40's I'm going to cut my hair off, after all I'll be old then". Here I am in my 40's and tho my hair is about 5 inches shorter than it used to be, I haven't resigned to cutting short yet! I have found that you should grow it while you can girl!!! I agree you can always cut it....1 Corin 11:15 but that if a woman has long hair, it is to her glory....See you can just about find scripture to back anything up! Lol....

Jamie,
So nice to hear from you. Hope all is well. We are all good and very busy like most families with three kids, baseball, softball, gymnastics, ballet, not to mention SCHOOL! I always love your blogs. It's so nice to see current pictures of your family. Oh, if you saw me know you would not have to ask the question. I LOVE the long hair. especially for summer because you can pull it back an hats look really cute.

Let me know what you end up doing.

Love you,
Rachael

You guys are cracking me up- especially the diplomatic ones. Thanks for all the feedback.

Kathy, I have to admit, that wish did cross my mind.

Kristen, I can't believe you think your face is fat! You are the skinniest friend I have. Nothing about you is fat.

Lot's of votes for long. Hmmmmm....the jury is still out.

Hey Jaime,
I'm going to vote for the long hair. I can't speak for Caleb, but Darren loves long hair (one of the reasons he married me). You would be beautiful with either, but the long hair is especially pretty and feminine. Love you, Jolie

Hey Jaime. I love the long hair! Do you become a Victoria Secret model when it gets that long? ;-) You will look totally fab with long or short, I can see them both on you. But long is definitely s*exier and it gives Caleb much more to run his fingers through, if he likes that sort of thing.

Thank you to all who think that my opinion is the most important, because it is :)

Jaime, I agree that either look would work for you, because let's face it, you are beautiful.

My answer is not an attempt at diplomacy, but ideas on how both can be done and you can help someone else in the process. My thoughts are this: You should grow your hair for a while, until you get your hair to the desired length. At that time, you should get it cut short and donate your hair to locks of love. You will be able to enjoy both hair styles, being dazzling in each, and be able to help someone who doesn't get to make the long or short decision.
That said, I really like the short!!

Hi Jaime,
Go for the short, you can always grow it. Short hair is libirating, sassy and playful. Think about how wonderful it is when the sun is hot, but you have no hair laying limp on your neck, just the cool breeze that tickles as it fly's by.
I've had short hair most of my adult life and I love it. But girl, you need to do what you want to do. Beauty comes from within.

Ahhh, Caleb beat me to the locks of love suggestion!

But I am going to say the long hair simply because you have had a goal for several years and I think you should stick to it. You have great hair and it's nice that you have lots of options to have fun with it. When you get tired of it after you reach your goal, then chop it off, donate it (Although I am pretty sure you have enough to donate now).

That said, you have a great jaw line for a pixie cut and think you should go that short again after you channel your inner Victoria's Secret model.

I had my hair in a pixie cut before but didn't realize until it was cut off that i have a cowlick on the back of my hair just above the hair line. I looked cute from the front and hideous from the back. Also, what color was your hair nine years ago? Sometimes really short do's look best with a dramatic color...either platinum of black. Although Jaime Lee Curtis' hair is a similar color to yours and she pulls off a short do just fine.

Jaime - what can I say - as a short haired girl myself (due to the curliness & taking care of my kiddos) I like short - but you always have looked GREAT with both long and short hair - I met you when we weren't even 21 and you had long hair then and it was s*xy and gorgeous! So I vote for growing it long - you can always go short - but long takes FOREVER to grow it out – so go for the long while you’re still young!

love you - Janelle

Well, I think you would look beautiful either way. I think you definately have the face for the short hair. If you loved it that much before, you could be happy with it again! According to Tyra, (ANTM) when you have a strong face, you can get away with the short, "Rosemary's Baby" style cut. I think your confidence and face would look beautiful with this cut! :)

Hey Jaime,

I say, do whatever you feel. But I would love to see you in short hair. It's hair and it will grow. Summer's coming and what better way to welcome it? It's easy and definately sassy. The styles are many, and it just goes against the grain. Just my opinion, you asked for it! You'll look fantastic in either one.

My vote is LONG HAIR!!! I agree with Stace. If you're anything like me, my hair takes a long time to grow, and we won't always wear our hair long, so go long while you can! You would look beautiful either way, but go Long first, then cut it. I can't wait to hear what you do!! I love both of those pics!
Love, Ang

The verdict:
So, I've thought about this for awhile and I've decided to continue to grow my hair out for another 6 months to a year while I loose about 10 more pounds (I've lost about 5 recently). In the meantime, I'm going to check into Locks of Love. Ideally, I'd like to chop it all off (maybe next Spring?) and donate it.
Thank you for all your great comments! I enjoyed all of them. You guys are way too sweet!
Jaime
